Christmas for tea lovers

With Christmas rapidly approaching what better gift to give the tea addict in your life than... alcoholic tea? No not really, it's called amaretto tea(3) and it does taste like it but it's made with almonds, lapacho, apricot, orange blossoms, rose blossoms etc... Yet another yummy flavor from one of my favorite tea companies David's Tea. They also have other teas for the holidays such as sleigh ride, santa's secret, alpine punch, and merry cranberry, the names alone are adorable.

If you haven't discovered them yet you should check it out, they are not better tea's necessarily but their packaging is great, their accessories are cute and practical and their tea blends are lovely. I would recommend them for the tea lover in your life especially now around christmas, when you just want to cuddle up with a hot mug full of christmas flavored goodness. I am by no means affiliated with them, I am just tea obsessed. 

Other ideas could be cute sugar rock stir sticks(4) which can be found on etsy, ebay etc or a cute little honey pot(1) from BB & beyond. Also adorable mug cozies(2), etsy is by far the best place to find one of a kind warm and fuzzy mug huggers (5). I think anyone of these would be loved by a tea fan.

Gluten free christmas

If you follow my blog you will quickly discover that I talk a lot about gluten free, that is because 3 years ago I discovered I was allergic to wheat. Navigating my new food world was like walking through a mind field, one step to a hidden gluten bomb! Thankfully it gets better every year, I have learned where to step and built a new healthy food path free from insidious gluten ingredients. I did that with tons of research, books and wonderful blogs made by people who like me cannot eat gluten.

So with that in mind, being that Christmas is quickly approaching I thought I would share fabulous gluten free cookie recipes because holidays are wonderful but busy and if you are GF you have better things to do with your time. Did you know?

That deli meat/cold cuts contain gluten. Yup that's right, and boy did I figure that out after I ate some this afternoon, I am so bloated!!!

Why do they contain gluten?
As we all know gluten is the binding agent of the universe and deli meats, hotdogs and sausages apparently need binding.The gluten helps retain water, stabilizes fat and protein, produces more end product, helps hold the meat together for better slicing and gives a nice gluteny texture.

But have no fear there are plently of alternatives on the market and more and more butchers are now offering gluten free alternatives. In the meantime, I will compile a list of canadian alternatives easily found in local supermarkets, well, atleast I hope so...
